Connie Kone,
St Petersburg Museum of History

Connie Kone is a longtime St Petersburg resident who has made valuable contributions to our city. She served on the City Planning Commission for six years, as well as St Petersburg City Council for two terms. Connie is actively involved in many community organizations, such as Tampa Bay Research Institute, the women’s support organization Town and Gown, USF St Petersburg, and is the co-founder of Friends of Weedon Island. She is also active within our Arts community, and particularly enjoys the Florida Orchestra Coffee Concerts series.

A retired teacher with a Masters in Education from the University of Tampa, Connie has two children and fostered a son from China. Though she is now a great-grandmother, Connie is a regular at the gym and enjoys traveling. Since 2003, she has served on the Board for the St Petersburg Museum of History. In 2009, staff cuts were needed and Connie effectively took over administration of the museum. Now entering her third year as board President, she is excited to create exhibits that engage young families as well as preserve our past. The museum collaborates with the St Petersburg Preservation Society, Florida Aviation, and the Pier Aquarium. A new collaboration with USF St Petersburg’s Florida Studies program shows promise as well. Be sure to visit the St Petersburg Museum of History and discover the ever changing exhibits that Connie has helped to create.
